Adaptive Haptic Device & Haptic Knob

Our sense of touch can perceive more than 100 separate pressure changes per second. It is said that the human finger can recognize and differentiate innumerable sensations. In our newest haptic devices, we use force feedback to give haptic in a variety of situations. Our two knobs work either standalone, or in combination with a standard touch display.

From smooth scrolling to ripple

By providing a wide spectrum of individual force feedback pattern, the users feel what function is currently activated without the need of visual feedback. We also make use of two more senses: haptic audio feedback amplifies the experience and the visual user interface adds another layer of confidence.

It’ s like using several mechanical control units – but all concentrated in one single haptic interface. Here are some of the possible haptic behavior patterns we developed:

No external parts needed.

Both devices work untethered. Micro controller, position sensors and the MR based brake are integrated in the device. Typical power consumption is below 1 Watt (1.5 Watt maximum) delivering a 5 Nm torque.

Adaptive Haptic Device

The AHD is attached to a standard multi touch tablet. The touchscreen can be used as an additional interaction and information display.

Haptic Knob

The haptic knob features a round multi touch display and can be used as a standalone interface.
